XnTcp settings

You can connect to the XnTcp interface and change its setting or monitor its status, using a Web Browser as explained in HTTP connection

XpressNET™ settings
XpressNET™ address Each device connected to the XpressNET™ bus is identified by a unique address in the range 1-31. The default address of the XnTcp is 30 (address normally employed by Lenz interfaces). You may need to change the address if it interferes with that of another device (e.g. another interface).
The value can also be changed by the PC software in accordance to XpressNET™ specifications. To this purpose, in JMRI, use the LI101 configuration utility.
Hardware version You should not need to change this value unless you are using a serial program that requires a specific type of interface. Known values are:
  • 1.0 = LI100F
  • 3.0 = LI100, LI101F
  • 8.0 = XnTcp (default)
Switch Off on disconnect Default value ON. If this option is checked, the XnTcp interface sends an Emergency Off command to the Command Station whenever the computer disconnects or the TCP/IP connection times out.
Service Mode delay Hundreds of seconds, default value 0. If the Auxiliary Output A2 is used to switch the power from the Main Track to the Programming Track (when using a Command Stations without Programming Track output), the forwarding of Service Mode commands can be delayed in order to allow enough time for the relay controlled by A2 to operate. A value of 5 hundreds of second is normally sufficient.
Network settings
You should need to change Network Settings only if your LAN does not support DHCP or you wish to connect to the LAN two or more XnTcp.
IP Address
Subnet Mask
MAC Address
NetBIOS name
  • If the XnTcp is connected to a LAN not supporting DHCP, change the IP Address and the Subnet Mask in accordance to the rules established for the LAN.
  • You can choose to assign to the XnTcp a static address also on a LAN supporting DHCP, by clearing the DHCP box.
  • If you connect more than one XnTcp to the same LAN, make sure that each unit has a different IP Address, MAC Address and NetBIOS name.
UDP port If you use JMRI, make sure that this value be set to 61234 (default value)
Security settings
The XnTcp interface implements a simple UserName/Password authentication. By default, only the uploading of software is protected, but the protection can be optionally extended also to Web pages. Kindly note that passwords are not encrypted, but simply Base64 encoded and can thus be easily hacked. This fact should not be a problem if the XnTcp is directly plugged into the Ethernet socket of a computer or connected to a LAN offering adequate protection from intruders.
Authentication
required to access
any page
Default OFF. If this option is enabled, no WEB page can be accessed without UserName and Password.
Authentication
required only
to access
configuration pages
Default OFF. If this option is enabled, configuration pages cannot be accessed without UserName and Password.
Change
UserName and Password
Default UserName/Password are admin/pw. If you change them, write down the new values :-)
XnTcp status
This page reports:
  • The status of the connection with the Command Station and with the Computer;
  • The number of TCP packets exchanged with the Computer (each TCP packet contains one or more XpressNET™ commands);
  • The number of XpressNET™ commands exchanged with the Command Station;
  • The number of transmission errors encountered.
